RE: Tax Rebate arrived this morning

Most people don't realize it but it's an advance on next years refund. If you are one of the people that just cut it even or usually owe a little, you should increase your withholding or you'll get a suprise when you owe it back next year!

RE: Seasonal site

Our site had some gravel, we had more delivered and spread it around how we wanted it, outlined with landscape boards. We tack down indoor/outdoor carpet that stays under the awning, with a picnic table sitting on it. Last year I bought an awning mat from Camping World. Looked very nice, water drained right through, easy to wash off with the hose. Within 2 months it had dry rotted and was tearing, obviously not meant to be left outside 24/7 so this year it's back to the indoor/outdoor carpet. Hope this helps

RE: Earthquake

Yep, I was awake and felt it, me and the dog :D. Everything started shaking around, took me about 5 seconds to realize it was an earthquake. Just as I was saying "wow!" to myself it stopped, lasted about 30 seconds from what I could tell. We had an aftershock at 10:15, everyone here at work perked up real quick :E Exciting way to start a day for sure! Kids slept through it, DH says he felt is but didn't realize what it was, went right back to sleep.

RE: 2008 puma

We picked up our brand new 2007 29-FKSS March 17, 2007. We did alot of research before settling on the trailer, and don't regret our choice one bit. Only problem we had with the trailer was the bedroom door needed to be adjusted to close properly, that's it. The price was great ($16,700) for a brand spanking new trailer. Good luck with whatever choice you make!

RE: Who's going out this weekend?

We are finally expecting 62 degrees Saturday and sunny dry weather :C, it's been a long cold winter and spring so far. We're heading up to our seasonal site to dewinterize since the water is finally turned on. We went up for one night 2 weekends ago and stocked with toiletries and other essentials, we still have alot of stuff to take up this weekend, too much according to DH :R. We're all really excited about finally starting the season, DH might actually get to take the fishing boat out on the lake!

RE: Washing EPDM rubber roof

I second the Camco Rubber Roof cleaner, works great for us and no question about it harming the roof or not. We get up there with a sponge mop. Just like mopping a floor, rinse with the hose, doesn't take very long. When we're done we wash the trailer with the wash and wax. Leaves the trailer clean and shiny top to bottom. Good luck

RE: Any Boaters/Cruisers in the Forum?

We store our deck boat at the lake in a stall near our seasonal site. We use it as much as we can, every weekend in the summer, if it's not raining. We spend all day tubing, hanging out at the beach, cruising, then head back to the campground for bbq, fire, beer, friends....I can't wait!

RE: RV Wash & Wax..Do They Really Work?

We use the wash and wax, works great, we also use it on our aluminum hull boat. For the roof, we wash at least twice a year with rubber roof wash specifically for the roof. Ours is a walk on roof, we use a sponge mop, just like mopping a floor.

RE: Seasonal Camping This Year

You're very lucky your site is 10 minutes from home, ours is 1.5 hrs away, still not too bad. We're still getting things together and this is our 4rth year into it, we'll start the season 2 weeks from now when the water is turned on. Some of the things we have to have are a small shed for storage (Rubbermaid), lawn mower even though they mow sometimes it's been raining and they couldn't. We bought a used one for $40. Also, we have a picnic table we built from a kit. Also, we found an old cable spool, bought one of those cheap plastic patio tables and screwed the top to the top of the spool, won't ever blow away. We bungee the plastic chairs to the bumper before we leave. Also, a shovel comes in handy for many things, one is cleaning out the firepit occasionally. We built a firepit with large rocks we got at a quarry. For inside, we keep DVDS, board games and cards, etc...for rainy days and evenings outside. We also keep balls and bats and stuff in the shed for the kids. I also have a toaster oven I keep in the kitchen that we use ALOT, for small pizzas, biscuits in the morning...We keep all toiletries up there, so we don't drag back and forth every week, as well as extra pillows and blankets, all we bring is clothes and some food. We also keep canned food in the pantry, and the little bowl things of spaghettios and and the like that we can heat in the microwave. This has saved DH a few times when he's gone up by himself and didn't bother to bring food :R. I could go on and on but you get the idea ;). We're heading up to ours for the day Saturday to bring alot of things for the start of the season, we'll get it stocked and ready to go for when the water turns on and the fun begins. I love talking to all the "neighbors" after not seeing them all winter, very exciting!

RE: How did you get started in RVing/ Camping?

I've been camping as long as I can remember. My Dad worked for the Corps of Engineers until retirement so we always stayed in Corps camgrounds. We stayed in a tent but had a shell on the back of the pickup for storage, great memories. In high school I camped with friends, DH and I have tent camped together since we met. We started taking our oldest son tent camping when he was 2, youngest son was just an infant his first trip. About 4 years ago we decided we needed a place at the lake so we could go boating more often. Our neighbors have a trailer on a seasonal spot up there, that's where we ended up. Rented the spot firt, then found a trailer. Last year we got our brand new PUMA we ordered from the factory :B. I always wanted my dad to buy a camper as a kid, I still feel like a kid everytime we go up and stay for the weekend (darn near every weekend April-October). One of these days I want to get a TV and take it on the road!
